JUMP DRIVES & STAR-GATES
Jump Drives are used to travel from one solar system to another solar system (Note: Warp Drives are used to travel fast within a given solar system) .
Star-Gates are the junction points between adjacent solar systems.
- When you first start out in the game, the only means you have to jump to another solar system is to physically approach a star-gate and 'activate' it. A typical scenario: If your mission destination is 5 jumps away, you will need to: warp to the connecting star-gate, activate the star-gate, jump to the adjacent solar system...repeat again for the next jump in the series of jumps in the mission destination,
- As you advance in the game (via Skills building) you can obtain a jump-drive capability by virtue of advancing to capital ships, which have the jump-drive already built in. (Note that Jump Drives are not independent modules ( https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Jump_drives[1])
- Jump-drives allow the pilot to jump across multiple solar systems to get from Point A to Point B. The distance of a jump is dependent on ship size and fuel capacity. (https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Jump_drives#Cynosural_Fields[2])
